ESPNU is owned by ESPN Inc. The channel is a joint venture between ABC Television Group which controls 80% stake and Hearst Corporation with 20% stake. ESPNU was launched in 2005, with the first broadcast originating from Gallagher-Iba Arena which is Oklahoma State University’s campus. The channel mainly covers college athletics and at times used as an outlet for regular ESPN programming.
