The United States Open Tennis Championships is also referred to as the US Open. It is a hard-court tennis tournament, which is a modern version of one of the oldest championships in the world. The contest dates back to 1881, and since 1987, it has been the fourth and final annual tennis major which comprises of the Grand Slam, along with the French Open, Australian Open, and Wimbledon. The US Open starts on the last Monday of August and lasts until mid-September.
