The United States Open Tennis Championships is also referred to as the US Open. It is a hard-court tennis tournament, which is a modern version of one of the oldest championships in the world. The US Open starts on the last Monday of August and lasts until mid-September. The tournament is owned and organized by the USTA, a non-profit, with the net proceeds from ticket sales, television deals, and sponsorships going to promote the development of tennis in America.
